Citizens' DEEOIC Interim Advisory Board Formed!

As you know, for years there have been calls for the formation of an advisory/oversight board over the part of the program managed by Department of Labor.  There are currently bills in both the House and Senate calling for the formation of such a board, as there were in the previous congress.  At this point, despite the best efforts by the sponsors of the legislation, Congress does not seen to see fit to act.

Because this is such an important issue for the welfare of the claimants served by EEOICPA, a group of citizens has formed the DEEOIC Interim Advisory Board which will serve the function of an advisory board until Congress sees fit to enact one.  The board will take its direction from the tasks assigned by the legislation and the other reports which have been made to Congress and DOL.

Because to date DOL has been reluctant to provide watchdog agencies with the documentation and information they need to evaluate the consistency and appropriateness with how they are adjudicating claims DIAB will be going directly to the claimants to try to gather information on how claims are being approved or denied.  This will be done through Town Hall Meetings and the internet.  Stay tuned for more announcements!
